Welcome
to:
THE
HAPPY PLACE
|

The sun rises over South Bay. The beginnings of a perfect day at The
Happy Place! |
| |
The
Cabin:
|
|

Harris enjoying the peaceful early morning with
a cup of tea on the porch. |

Nautilus explores the morning beach at half-tide. He
likes to have a little pre-breakfast snack of crabs. |

Our cabin on the bay
(the original). |

6 foot addition to porch May 2007. |

New roomier porch. |
The bedroom. Small but
it does the job! |
 |

Composting toilet in picture

and kitchen
area above. |

Living room area, above, with
nautical chart of the bay. Porch with rain gear,
right. |
 |
 |

Pictured here on the left is
a ladder that Harris made
that leads to the small
sleeping/storage loft. Harris
also made the small
table, above, that opens with
gate-legs for game time
with the grand kids. |
|
The
Family: |

Our son, Rob with his wife, Cristin and kids,
Kayleen and Anthony. Not sure which of their
dogs is with them, could be Midnight or Chance. |

Our daughter, Becca with her
husband, Chris and
their daughter, Katie. Becca made our
great Welcome sign! |

Our grandson, Anthony, tossing horseshoes in
the newly created pit. With Nautilus stubbornly
not moving. |

Our youngest daughter, Jennifer
re-charging
in the hammock. |

Becca, Chris and Katie enjoy
the beach with one
of their German Shepherds, Gunnar. |

This is Anthony with sister Kayleen. The water
never gets much warmer than 50 degrees, but
it doesn't seem to bother the kids! When it's
sunny, they spend the whole day in and out
of the water... |

Harris trying his hand at fishing. He doesn't really
have the patience for it!
|

The is more Harris' speed, hanging out in the
hammock with a glass of wine. |

Katie, being cute! |

Our beloved pups, Nautilus and
Neptune explore
the rocky shoreline and delight on munching
dead sea creatures! |
The
Views:
|

October 24, 2003, morning
- astronomically
high tides. |

October 24, 2003, afternoon
-
astronomically low tides. |

This is our cove pictured on the right at about half tide.
Our tides differences are anywhere
from 16 to 22 feet
every 6+ hours.
We are very close to the Bay of Fundy, home of the highest
tides in the world! |
 |
 |
| The sailboat and lobster
boat are a couple of the very few boats that are on the
bay. |

Low tide looking north out to Cobscook
Bay. |
| |
Local
Wildlife:
|
|

An eagle soaring overhead on the thermals. |

It appears that we have a family of Humming Birds.
Picture
was taken through the screen. |

The above starfish where found during
that
astronomically how tide 10/24/03. For
comparison,
Neptune is a 75 pound dog! |

A young Porcupine sleeping in a tree during the
day. Neptune
became acquainted with either this
guy or one of his
relatives the first summer here,
but has not gotten quilled since
then. |

We arrived in the spring of 2005 to find a momma
racoon and
her babies had taken up residence
under the cabin. |

Snake sunning on the rocks. Leaves very
quickly when Neptune
and Nautilus arrive.
|
| |

Toads are very interesting to the dogs... |
|
| |
Misc.
Extras:
|
|

Jennnifer being Jennifer
at Quoddy Head Lighthouse,
the most eastern point in
the USA. |

Harris and his new "toy".
Actually we intend to cover the front yard with
wood chips
to hide the roots that are a huge trip
hazard for both kids
and grandma! |

We sit in these locally made Adirondack chairs
almost every
morning with our tea. Even when
there's frost on the
ground. This is our little
point that looks out over South Bay
and north
to Cobscook Bay. |

This is our view from the yard in front of the cabin. |

We made this bridge from a fallen spruce that was
across the
driveway. It spans a little brook that
flows to the
ocean. |

One of our best purchases was
this fire pit. We
wanted
to be able to have a fire, but be
safe and this
is
great! We also use it to cook with when
the
weather
is good. |

We made this shower house from left over lumber
that came
with the cabin. |

Thought is was so cool. It is made from shells. |

Harris has made pathways, stairs and walkways
all over the
property using rocks from the beach.
This path leads
from the front of the cabin down
to the beach and the large rock
at the bottom
bridges the small brook. |

Rob and all the dogs. Chance, Midnight,
Nautilus,
Neptune
and Micah. |

Harris and Neptune play. |

The moon rising over South Bay. |
| |

The cabin lit up at night time. |
